RECOMMENDATIONS
Our careplans are normally used as part of a person’s daily routine; many people using Calmology also use medication to assist their agitation.
We provide a schedule based on a person’s type of agitation. This can be a practical guide for carers and family members to help make a person more comfortable and reduce unnecessary triggers during the course of the day.
- If the person is immobile or resting with feet up – the feet are an excellent place for applying oil or cream.
- Trial shower time in afternoon and minimise showering if it is becoming a trigger.
- Dress warmly taking into account air conditioning and body fat
- At early signs of agitation apply Jade Cream to inner elbow and/or back of neck OR wash face and apply liberally
- Amba & Rescue Oil are highly recommended for massage or physio – avoid applying to hands as people can rub into eyes

TIPS FOR USE OF CALMOLOGY BODY CARE PRODUCTS
MAJOR APPLICATIONS
Apply cream or oil to cover a larger area i.e. the lower legs or arms and back of the neck without causing unnecessary greasiness. Major applications can be applied 1 -3 times in a 24-hour period. (Massage is not necessary to apply the products.)
MINOR APPLICATIONS
A minor application of cream (about the size of a chickpea) can be applied very frequently (every hour if required) to a smaller area such as the inner elbow/forearm area, the back of the neck or the sternum.
OIL
Pour about the size of a 10-cent piece onto the palm of your hand and apply to preferred area. (Very effective on the soles of feet for people who are immobile or resting.)
For immobile patients or resting with feet up – oil, cream or balm can be frequently applied to the soles of the feet and gently “raking” upwards with fingers toward the calf area. This can be very effective.
USE OF CREAMS
- Jade Cream is unisex and can be applied liberally to the face instead of other moisturisers (for women) or after a shave (for men.)
- Ease Cream can be applied to the sternum “necklace area” but isn’t suitable for the face
USE OF OILS
- Ease Oil is very comforting and can be used at any time of night or day
- Amba Oil is a stimulating and warming oil and is best used in the morning up to 3pm in the afternoon.
- Rescue Oil is best applied sparingly – enough to be absorbed into the skin in 1 minute. Can be helpful applied to areas of pain i.e. arthritis
